This organization was created in 2006 and is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization based in New York City. A group of young Ecuadorians and Latin Americans, united under the same ideals and goals, came together to build what is now Organizacion Juventud Ecuatoriana (JUVE).
Our main goal is to reach the community to provide tools that serve for the development of our people inside and outside of their countries of origin, all based on two pillars, information and education.
Thus, in March 2006 began informal meetings in homes of members, time that was used to structure the organization, define our fields of action, create events and projects, and establish our mission and vision.
In August of 2006 we had our first event called Seminar on Immigration, which we have the presence of savvy law with extensive experience in migration issues, we had a huge audience, but we will not discourage, the following month we began to draft GED (for its initials in English) equivalent to the baccalaureate degree in the U.S., where Saturday after Saturday for 4 months brings together instructors, tutors, coordinators and students to gain experience in the areas of mathematics , literature, writing, social studies and natural sciences. At the end of the course students enroll for an exam at the Department of Education of the City of New York. In December we made a Christmas dance which presented a set of techno cumbia called Vampires, whose director is taking the GED course.
JUVE has created fundraising events to help foundations, and other non-profit organizations, as well as has offered a number of seminars in education, technology, marketing, leadership, financial management, human rights, environments, civil rights, and more. As of 2012, JUVE has awarded 15 scholarships to young ecuadorians who are pursuing a college degree in the United States. These scholarships are possible thanks to the Ecuadorian Scholars Fund (ESF) project created in 2009, which seeks to offer a permanent source of scholarships with the support from the public and private industry and community members. Fundraising events are the main source of funding for the ESF, as well as the annual gala that is celebrated every year in New York City. The upcoming gala is scheduled for October 20th, 2012.
