Jessica Chauca- JUVE Scholar 2016. She was born and raised in Azogues, a small city in Ecuador. She moved to the Unites States in 2011 with her family and the dream of continuing her education. In order to accomplish her goals, she knew that she had to learn the language and so she did in less than a year. After that, she attended to LaGuardia Community College where she got her Associate Degree in bilingual education. Currently, she is a senior at Queens College. She is pursuing her bachelor degree in Childhood Education, Latin American Studies and Spanish. Jessica has always been committed to her education and she is very passionate about her dream of becoming a bilingual teacher. She thinks that being bilingual open children’s minds to different worlds which help them to maintain their background identity. “I think that the best way of helping my hispanic community is by educating their children and encouraging them to maintain not just their language but also their culture.” ———————-

Jessica- Becada de JUVE en el 2016. Nació y fue criada en Azogues, una ciudad pequeña al Sur de Ecuador. Llegó a los Estados Unidos en el 2011 con su familia y con el gran deseo de continuar su educación universitaria. Jessica sabía que para lograr sus metas primero debía aprender ingles y lo consiguió en menos de una año. Después asistió a LaGuardia Community College donde obtuvo su certificado de educación bilingüe. Hoy en dia, Jessica está en la Universidad de la Ciudad de Nueva York- Queens College especializándose en educación primaria, estudios Latinoamericanos y español. Jessica siempre ha estado muy comprometida con sus estudios y le apasiona su sueño de ser maestra bilingüe. “Pienso que la mejor manera de ayudar a su comunidad hispania, es educando a sus niños y alentandolos a mantener no solo el idioma pero también su cultura.”
